Peace Above Safety

U.S. Pressures (Forces) Israel Not To Break Gaza Ceasefire

Kushner and Witkoff are making a mad dash to Israel to prevent their ceasefire from blowing up in our (and their) faces.

Questions remain about how the United States will respond to recent developments in Gaza, including Hamas' blatant violation of the ceasefire time after time and Israel's tepid response.

According to sources, Washington is deeply engaged in the matter, setting the tone and emphasizing the importance of turning the current ceasefire into a lasting end to hostilities, particularly moving into the second phase of the peace agreement.

Messages from U.S. officials in recent hours stress the need to maintain the ceasefire. Vice President JD Vance is expected to arrive in Israel on Tuesday, while envoys Witkoff and Kushner are likely to arrive as early as Monday.

The visits were planned prior to the recent escalation against Hamas but are now expected to play a critical role in shaping the continuation and implementation of the agreement.

Reading between the lines, the US is applying immense pressure on Israel not to act in a way which would make Hamas withdraw from the ceasefire, even after today's shocking security incidents in Gaza. And even though Israel reportedly told the US what it was planning to do before doing it, the understanding on the ground is that at this time, Trump has more say over what happens vis a vis Gaza than Netanyahu does, meaning that we now have injured soldiers a s a result of today's attack, but we can't throw our proverbial toys out of the cot, lest trump get mad.
