Terrorist Rams Maccabim Checkpoint, Guard Critical

A terrorist critically wounded an Israeli security officer in a ramming attack at the Maccabim checkpoint on Route 443 Wednesday afternoon. The victim, a police officer in his 40s serving at the checkpoint, was rushed to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem in critical condition.

The attack occurred around 5:00 p.m. when the terrorist drove his vehicle toward the checkpoint and attempted to breach the guard post. He succeeded in ramming one of the officers stationed at the site, inflicting severe injuries.

Emergency medical teams from United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom arrived rapidly to treat the wounded officer at the scene before evacuating him to the hospital.

IDF forces at the checkpoint eliminated the terrorist.

United Hatzalah paramedics Yitzhak Kara and Netanel Cohen, who were first to arrive, reported: "United Hatzalah dispatch sent us to a ramming attack scene near the checkpoint. Together with IDF medical teams, we provided initial medical treatment at the scene including respiratory support, life-saving medications, bandaging and stabilization for a man (around 35 years old) who was then evacuated in critical and unstable condition."

MDA paramedic Yishai Mor and medics Yechiel Frankenhuiz and Avraham Lavia said: "We saw significant commotion and a man in his 40s unconscious and suffering from severe bodily trauma after being run over. Together with IDF medical forces, we provided life-saving medical treatment and evacuated him in an MDA ambulance to the hospital in critical condition."

MDA reported: "At 16:54, a report was received at MDA's 101 dispatch center in the Ayalon region about a man struck by a vehicle on Route 443 from Beit Horon westward. MDA medics and paramedics in cooperation with IDF medical forces are providing medical treatment to a man around 40 years old in critical condition, unconscious. Update to follow."

This marks the second terror attack in less than a week. On Sunday, the eve of Yom Kippur, Natan'el Shukrun was murdered in a horrific attack at Ma'ayan Danny.
