Shin Bet director David Zini sharply rebuked Religious Zionism minister Orit Strook on Sunday night during a cabinet discussion on settler violence in Judea and Samaria, telling her "you're disconnected from reality."
The confrontation began when Minister Strook challenged the framing of the discussion. "Palestinians attack shepherds, wound them and endanger their lives," she said. "You present it as if the Arabs are sweetness and light, and only the settlers are the problem. Present those attacks too, deal with them and talk about them."
Zini responded: "The Palestinians aren't burning down Jewish homes here. You're disconnected. We need to see condemnations and denunciations from all the leadership. This harms the settlement enterprise and harms security."
Strock replied that she condemns violence constantly. Zini asked her: "Where did you condemn it?" Strook answered: "On Reshet Bet, on Galei Tzahal, everywhere. Just listen."
