Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Liberman published a sharp attack today (Sunday) against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, ahead of the PM's 77th birthday this week. Liberman called for an end to Netanyahu's political career, claimed the prime minister has grown weak, and accused him of trying to secure his survival by forming a unity government after the elections.
"The end of the Netanyahu era," Liberman opened. "This week Bibi will turn 77, and the election result must be the end of his era in Israeli politics."
He claimed Netanyahu has lost his political independence and has been forced to surrender to pressure from his coalition partners.
"Bibi is weaker than he has ever been. He has become a hostage in the hands of draft dodgers and in the hands of a handful of anarchists who are damaging the settlement enterprise and destroying Israel's last bastions of support around the world, first and foremost in the United States," he wrote.
According to Liberman, Netanyahu's weakness is not confined to the political system but also affects the functioning of the state and the daily lives of Israeli citizens.
"Bibi is weak, and he is making the State of Israel weak. Our reality has become chaos, the instability and inability to plan life, not only at the state level but at the level of every single citizen, are turning Israeli reality into something murky and uncertain," he claimed.
According to him, the prime minister understands his political situation and is hoping that one of the opposition bloc parties will agree to join him in a unity government.
