Eisenkot: Netanyahu sabotaging elections

Eisenkot and Netanyahu

Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Gadi Eisenkot sharply attacked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday, following the summoning of Police Commissioner Danny Levy to a meeting two days before the election. In his remarks, Eisenkot accused Netanyahu of attempting to harm the integrity of the elections, despite Likud's claim that the meeting does not concern that subject.

"Netanyahu is working to sabotage the elections in Israel," Eisenkot said. "Summoning the police commissioner to a meeting on the eve of elections, in blatant violation of proper procedure and endangering election integrity, is a dangerous intervention that must not be allowed."

Eisenkot continued, addressing the prime minister directly: "Netanyahu, immediately remove all involvement and interference, yours and your people's, from the election system. Do not dare to harm the integrity of the elections. We will stand as a fortified wall against any such illegitimate attempt." At the same time, he continued his "the largest party" campaign, claiming that "only Yisrael Beiteinu, much larger than Likud, will create full and absolute legitimacy to save Israel and replace Netanyahu."

He said he is "appealing to all dedicated public servants: we are in a fateful week. Your loyalty is to the kingdom, not to the king. In the coming days they will try to challenge you and test your professional and ethical boundaries. Stand strong and firm. This is in our souls."
