Two German nationals were arrested overnight Sunday outside Damon Prison on Mount Carmel after being observed photographing the entrance to the facility. A search of the suspects' mobile phones turned up images of security installations and activity.
The two were detained outside the prison, which houses security prisoners, and are being questioned by police and the Shin Bet. They will be brought before a judge later for a hearing on extending their detention.
Damon Prison is located on Mount Carmel and serves as a facility for security prisoners. In recent years, a dedicated wing was established there holding dozens of individuals accused of espionage on behalf of Iran. The inmates are under constant surveillance through cameras installed in the cells, confined behind iron fences with no phone calls and no visits.
