Coalition talks

Strock: I called Eisenkot MK, we're friends

Religious Zionism minister responds to Yisrael party's claim that coalition is pressuring its members: I called Tal Ochana to congratulate her — nothing Yisrael or crooked will ruin our friendship

The political storm over the final vote count and attempts to form a parliamentary majority has reached the personal relationships between MKs: Minister Orit Strook (Religious Zionism) responded Saturday night with sarcasm and sharpness to claims raised by the Yisrael Beiteinu party, led by Gadi Eisenkot, that coalition ministers are applying pressure and attempting to contact members of the faction amid coalition talks.

In response to the claims, she clarified on her X account that she did try to reach incoming MK Tal Ochana, but explained it was a congratulatory call between longtime friends: "Guilty as charged! I called Tal this evening. Tal Ochana, my good friend, to congratulate her on entering the Knesset."

"Nothing Yisrael or crooked will ruin the friendship"

She detailed the joint work and close relationship between the two over the years, including activity on behalf of northern residents: "Tal and I work together on rehabilitating the northern border communities. Just this past Sunday we were corresponding about the new core group forming to strengthen Even Menachem. I love and appreciate Tal very much, and I wanted to share in her joy."

The minister signed off her statement with an explicit jab at Eisenkot's party: "Tal didn't answer, but I'm sure she'll get back to me. I'm certain that nothing will ruin the strong friendship between us."
