Matilda is the youngest victim of the Bondi Massacre, in which 15 people were gunned down while attending a Hanukkah celebration on Sydney's iconic Bondi Beach.
Her mother explained that the family had emigrated to Australia from the Ukraine. She and her husband named Matilda 'the most Australian name there was.'“
Matilda spent her last day playing with her six year-old sister Summer at the Hanukkah party. They got their faces painted, ate donuts, and were playing together near the petting zoo when the shots rang out.
Speaking to i24 News through her tears, she stressed her daughter was deliberately targeted, not struck by stray fire.
The shooting has deepened grief and shock across the Jewish community.
