Beijing Pledge: President Xi Guarantees Military Embargo on Iran in Breakthrough Trump Summit

President Trump reveals that China’s Xi Jinping has promised a military embargo on Iran to help secure a final nuclear deal.

In a seismic shift for global security, President Donald Trump revealed on Thursday that he has secured a landmark commitment from Chinese President Xi Jinping to immediately cease all military equipment transfers to Iran. The announcement, made during a state visit to the Chinese capital, marks the most significant diplomatic breakthrough in the effort to isolate Tehran since the regional crisis began.

The "Major Declaration"

Following a high-stakes summit in the Great Hall of the People, President Trump confirmed the details of the agreement in an exclusive interview with Fox News, describing a Chinese leadership that is increasingly wary of Iranian volatility.

"President Xi offered to help with the Iranian issue—and he promised he would not transfer military equipment to them," Trump stated. "That is a major declaration. But at the same time, he noted that [the Iranians] are buying and developing a lot of weapons on their own."

The Hormuz Consensus

The breakthrough appears rooted in China’s urgent need for maritime stability. According to the President, Xi made it clear that Beijing’s patience with Iranian "maximalism" in the Strait of Hormuz has reached its limit.

A joint White House-Beijing statement later expanded on the "Hormuz Consensus":

  • The Nuclear Redline: Both leaders formally agreed that Iran must never be permitted to achieve nuclear weapons status or development capability.
  • Ending the "Toll" System: The two powers issued a unified rejection of Tehran's recent attempts to levy transit fees on international shipping, reaffirming that no nation has the right to tax natural maritime trade routes.
  • Energy Security: Xi reportedly signaled his support for a final nuclear framework to ensure the unhindered flow of oil through the world’s most vital energy artery.

Geopolitical Ripple Effects

The timing of the pledge is critical. It follows a stunning report to Congress by CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper, who testified earlier today that U.S. and allied operations have already "completely severed" the weapons supply lines between Tehran and its primary proxies, Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.

By adding a Chinese military embargo to the existing U.S.-led blockade, the Trump administration has effectively backed the Iranian regime into a corner, stripping it of its most significant remaining international shield.
