The Czech Parliament recently hosted a powerful solidarity conference, marking Jerusalem Day and the secular anniversary of Israel’s Declaration of Independence. Organized by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) in collaboration with the Israel Allies Foundation, the Czech-Israel Friendship Association, and the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group, the event turned into a resounding rejection of the growing global wave of antisemitism and diplomatic hostility.

The gathering featured prominent figures, including Israeli Ambassador to the Czech Republic Amir Weissbrod, Czech members of parliament and senators from both the coalition and opposition, and delegates from 22 international ICEJ branches. Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský sent an official letter of blessing, while Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar addressed the audience via video message.

Defying the Global Boycott Movement

The conference took place against a backdrop of unprecedented international friction, highlighted by recent aggressive campaigns to boycott, intimidate, and ban Israel from global cultural events like the Eurovision Song Contest. While anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian organizations have successfully pressured various institutions and even prompted several nations to withdraw from international competitions as protest against Israel, the event in Prague proved that critical global allies refuse to succumb to international intimidation.

The continuous support from nations like the Czech Republic serves as definitive proof that despite orchestrated campaigns of jeers, boos, and political boycotts, Israel enjoys deep-rooted, unshakeable support among courageous global lawmakers who refuse to bend to populist pressure.

During the discussions, speakers highlighted the century-long bond of friendship between the Czech and Jewish peoples. The central theme of the event was a unified call for the Czech government to officially complete its diplomatic transition and relocate its embassy to Israel's capital, Jerusalem.

"It takes courage to swim against the current," Czech Senator Jan Pirk stated during his speech. "We must do the right thing now and move our embassy to Jerusalem."

Dr. Mojmír Kallus, ICEJ Vice President for International Affairs and the initiator of the conference, emphasized the significance of the global attendance. "Delegates arrived from countries whose current leadership is not friendly toward Israel," Kallus noted. "Yet we believe that through our prayers and actions for Israel and the Jewish people, we will have the final word."

The emotional gathering concluded with Czech lawmakers and representatives from all 22 visiting nations signing a joint declaration. The document calls on the Czech government to reaffirm its historic alliance with the State of Israel and manifest this bond by officially relocating the Czech Embassy to Jerusalem.
