Gulf nations, led by Saudi Arabia, are preparing seriously for the possibility of a U.S. strike against Iran. Beyond mediation attempts between Tehran and Washington and their desire to distance themselves from the conflict as much as possible, it was reported today (Sunday) on the "This Morning" program on Kan News that the Gulf states have also conveyed significant warnings to the Iranians.

A source in the Saudi royal family made clear that Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states don't want to be part of the event, and direct messages were sent to Iran stating that the countries will not allow the U.S. to use their territory or airspace for striking Iran. In the same breath, Iran was warned that if it or its proxies attack the Gulf states forcefully as part of the confrontation with the U.S., they will find it difficult to stay silent about it and this could lead to their intervention.

The same Saudi source emphasized that the reference is to significant attacks by Iran and its proxies against them, not like the limited Iranian attack against the U.S. Al-Udeid base in Qatar, in response to the American strike against nuclear facilities in Operation Swords of Iron, which he described as "a show."

The source added that Riyadh would prefer that the pressure applied on Iran remain only at the economic level and not spill over into extensive military action, although in the kingdom they get the impression that the U.S. is preparing to attack.
