Pete Hegseth's Unusual Move
Hegseth took Kid Rock flying in combat helicopters as part of a patriotic event. It’s classic MAGA-era Pentagon vibes: rock star and Apaches and zero chill on the optics.

In a move that screams “new era at the Pentagon,” Secretary of War Pete Hegseth took rock star Kid Rock on a high-profile visit to U.S. Army troops Monday, complete with rides in AH-64 Apache attack helicopters.
Hegseth and Kid Rock each flew in separate Army Apaches at a Virginia base near Washington, D.C. The pair then met with soldiers, posed for photos, and filmed content tied to Memorial Day and America’s upcoming 250th birthday celebrations.
Hegseth posted photos on X praising the country music icon:
“Kid Rock is a patriot and huge supporter of our troops. The War Department is wasting no time celebrating America’s 250th, home of the free because of the brave.”

The visit comes just weeks after the viral moment when two Army Apaches hovered low over Kid Rock’s Tennessee pool while he saluted them from the water. The Army initially launched an investigation into the pilots. until Hegseth personally shut it down, saying “No punishment. No investigation. Carry on, patriots.”
Supporters called the Apache flights a fun, morale-boosting outing with a longtime troop advocate who has raised millions for veterans and performed at military events for years.Critics labeled it taxpayer-funded joyriding and accused the Trump administration of turning the military into a political rock concert.
Kid Rock, wearing his signature black hat and sunglasses, appeared thrilled throughout the day, posting his own footage flying alongside troops.
Hegseth is clearly signaling a more relaxed, patriotic, and “pro-troop culture” approach at the Pentagon, and he’s not afraid to bring in big-name allies like Kid Rock to make the point. Whether you see it as good optics or questionable judgment, one thing is certain: this is not your grandfather’s Pentagon.
The videos and photos are already going viral. America’s military just got a little louder (and a lot more rock ‘n’ roll).
