The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has just published the audio of a tense radio exchange with the U.S. Navy that took place yesterday, April 11, 2026.

While the guided-missile destroyer USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. (DDG-121) along with the USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112), was attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz as part of a CENTCOM mine-clearance operation, IRGC forces made direct radio contact.

In the released recording, the IRGC operator issues repeated warnings to the American warship:

“This is the last warning.”

The IRGC threatened to target the vessels if they continued their passage.

The U.S. Navy responded that they were exercising the right of innocent passage under international law and proceeded with the transit. Both American destroyers successfully completed the journey and are now operating in the Persian Gulf.

By releasing the audio today, the IRGC is attempting to show it actively challenged the U.S. warships in the strategic waterway.

It's the classic game of cat-and-mouse game in Hormuz: U.S. pushed through anyway, IRGC used the radio exchange for propaganda, and both sides are now claiming victory in the information war.

The incident comes amid the ongoing standoff over the Strait of Hormuz and just after the collapse of U.S.-Iran talks in Islamabad.
