Iran’s Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi called on Iranians not to view the recent ceasefire between Iran, the United States, and Israel as a setback, portraying it instead as evidence that the Islamic Republic has been significantly weakened.
In an address broadcast into Iran, Pahlavi acknowledged that the pause in fighting had left some supporters discouraged, but argued that the regime had been forced into negotiations after suffering major losses during weeks of conflict.
He said the scale of damage to Iran’s military and internal security apparatus had undermined the regime’s ability to operate effectively, describing the ceasefire as a reflection of that pressure rather than a sign of recovery.
Pahlavi pointed to what he described as the elimination of key leadership figures and commanders within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and other institutions, arguing that the regime’s command structure had been severely disrupted. He also claimed that infrastructure built to project power beyond Iran’s borders had been heavily damaged.
Despite his assessment, Pahlavi did not call for immediate public action against the regime. He cautioned that authorities still retain the capacity to carry out repression and urged Iranians to remain patient and prepared for a future turning point.
He emphasized that while external military pressure has played a role in weakening the regime, its ultimate downfall would depend on internal action by the Iranian people.
Pahlavi also accused the Islamic Republic of attempting to conceal the extent of the damage through propaganda and restrictions on information, including limits on internet access.
His remarks come as the ceasefire remains fragile and negotiations continue amid conflicting accounts of its terms. While US officials have expressed optimism about potential diplomatic progress, Iranian messaging has remained more guarded.
The Crown Prince’s statement reflects ongoing efforts to frame the current moment as a turning point, even as uncertainty persists over whether the ceasefire will lead to a longer-term resolution.
