Russian missile and drone strikes killed at least 15 people and wounded dozens more in Kyiv and the surrounding region overnight, authorities said Wednesday, the latest in a wave of deadly attacks on Ukraine.
According to Ukraine's Air Force, Russia launched 143 aerial weapons, including 24 Iskander-M ballistic missiles, four Zircon anti-ship missiles, and 115 Shahed attack drones. Kyiv region was the primary target of the assault.
Ukraine's air defenses shot down or electronically suppressed 98 drones, but none of the 28 missiles launched during the attack were intercepted. The inability to counter the ballistic threat reflects a critical shortage of Western air defense systems. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the main targets of the attack were warehouses belonging to civilian enterprises.
