Aleida Guevara, a 64-year-old Cuban physician and daughter of the communist mass murderer Ernesto "Che" Guevara, made headlines with controversial remarks to the pro-Hezbollah Lebanese outlet Al Mayadeen.
Speaking on the sidelines of an “anti-fascist” event organized last week in Caracas by Venezuela’s socialist regime, Guevara praised Hezbollah for what she called its “victory” over Israel following a ceasefire agreement she claimed the Shiite terror group had “forced” Israel to sign.
Her statements starkly contrasted with reports from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which have highlighted significant blows dealt to Hezbollah, including the elimination of key leaders such as Hassan Nasrallah, severely undermining the group's operational capacity.
“Brothers of Lebanon, I am really very proud, very proud that the people have reacted and have reached a moment of victory, of collective victory, with very courageous men and women,” Guevara said. “I really feel that I should be there; it is the strength of a people that pushes you forward.”
She went on to express solidarity with Hezbollah, framing its actions as a triumph of resilience against Israel. “Thank you very much. I know it is hard, I know the situation is difficult and that we miss the beautiful men and women of this town who are not physically here, but they are with you, they are present,” she continued. “They have achieved what they wanted: to arrive and triumph, and tell Israel that it will never be able to defeat the people of Lebanon, never.”
Guevara concluded her speech with her father’s infamous revolutionary slogan, “Until victory always, comrades.”
