Donald Trump addresses the General Assembly

US President Donald Trump released a statement Wednesday marking three years since the October 7 massacre, in which he remembered the victims and pledged that America will continue to stand against the forces of terror.

"Exactly three years ago, on October 7, the world witnessed one of the darkest and most evil days in Israel's history," Trump opened. "Innocent men, women and children were murdered, kidnapped and subjected to unimaginable horrors at the hands of Hamas terrorists."

The American president emphasized his commitment to bringing the hostages home: "I fought tirelessly to bring the hostages home and reunite them with their loved ones, and I did so, both the living and the fallen," he wrote.

Trump closed his statement with a central message: "We will never forget October 7. We will never forget the victims. And we will always stand against the forces of terror and evil."

In Israel, numerous memorial ceremonies were held Wednesday marking the three years since the massacre. At Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv, the national memorial ceremony took place with some 50,000 people in attendance, including bereaved families and survivors of captivity.

Reactions were also recorded in the Arab world. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani sparked controversy following a post he published, in which he opened with words of condolence but quickly turned the message into an indictment against Israel. Mamdani claimed that "the suffering did not begin and did not end on that day" and accused Israel of "genocide."
