At 79 years old, President Donald Trump is facing increasing scrutiny over his physical and mental fitness, just a year after he frequently criticized his predecessor, Joe Biden, for similar issues. A comprehensive report by the Wall Street Journal has brought several hidden health concerns to light, including the reality of a secret medical procedure performed at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in October. While the White House initially withheld details, Trump recently admitted the visit involved a CT scan of his heart and abdomen. Despite the findings, the President continues to insist his health is "perfect," attributing his stamina to what he calls "very good genetics."

The investigation revealed that Trump suffers from chronic venous insufficiency, a common age-related condition that causes blood to pool in the lower legs, resulting in visible swelling of his ankles. To combat this, doctors recommended compression socks, but Trump admitted he stopped wearing them because he "didn't like them." Furthermore, observers have noticed prominent bruising on the back of his right hand, which remains visible even under thick layers of makeup. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt explained that these bruises are the result of "frequent handshakes and the use of aspirin." Trump famously takes 325 milligrams of aspirin daily, a dose four times higher than the 81 milligrams typically recommended for men his age, because he is "a little superstitious" and wants "nice thin blood" flowing through his heart.

Sleep deprivation is another major factor in the President's daily life. Trump reportedly sends messages and makes calls to aides as late as 2:00 in the morning, often after watching segments on Fox News. This lack of rest appears to take a toll during the day, as Trump has been spotted with his eyes closed during high level Cabinet meetings and drug launch events. He has dismissed claims that he is nodding off, insisting that he is simply "resting his eyes" or that cameras are catching him in the middle of a long blink. He also brushed off concerns about his hearing, sarcastically telling reporters "I can't hear you" when asked about his auditory health, though associates claim aides must speak loudly for him to follow conversations.

Despite a diet rich in fats and salts and a lack of regular exercise outside of golf, the White House maintains that the President is fully fit for duty. They even shared an AI-based analysis from a clinic suggesting Trump has the "heart age" of a 65-year-old. Trump himself expressed regret over allowing the medical tests to be publicized, stating that "in hindsight, it's a shame I did it, because it gave them some ammunition." As he continues his second term as the oldest person to ever hold the office, the balance between his frantic schedule and the natural signs of aging remains a central focus of public and political debate.
