"The Finish Line is in Sight"

The United States government is signaling that the war against the Iranian regime is rapidly approaching its conclusion. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a recent interview with Fox News, stated that Washington identifies significant progress on the ground and that the end of the campaign is finally visible on the horizon. "We can see the finish line. Not today and not tomorrow, but it’s approaching," Rubio remarked, adding that the war is expected to conclude within a matter of weeks. This optimistic assessment comes as the White House prepares for a major "dramatic announcement" by President Donald Trump, scheduled for early Thursday morning Israel time, which is expected to outline the final objectives and the path toward a cessation of hostilities.

A New Regional Reality

Rubio’s comments suggest that the military pressure has reached a point where the Iranian regime’s ability to resist has been fundamentally compromised. The Secretary of State even hinted at the possibility of a direct meeting with Iranian representatives at some point, suggesting that the "reasonable group" now in power within the country might be looking for a way out of the war. However, Rubio also reiterated the President’s warning that the U.S. will reassess its international commitments, including its relationship with NATO, once the war is over. The frustration with allies who failed to participate in the campaign remains a central theme in Washington's post-war planning, as the administration looks to reward those who stood by them while distancing themselves from those who did not.

The scheduled address by President Trump is being viewed as a "victory lap" or a final ultimatum to the remaining elements of the regime. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the speech will be a "special statement to the nation" focused entirely on the Iranian front. With the Iranian economy in shambles and its military leadership in hiding or eliminated, the administration is moving quickly to define what the post-war Middle East will look like. While the Iranian parliament continues to claim that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed and that the Supreme Leader alone decides on matters of war, the rapid movement of American and Israeli forces suggests that the decision may soon be taken out of Tehran’s hands entirely.
