"Don't Start the War Again"

Turkish FM Hakan Fidan Urges U.S. Not to Humiliate Iran

Turkish FM Hakan Fidan urges the U.S. to prioritize the nuclear file and avoid a "package deal" approach to Iran. Warning against a new war, Fidan claims Tehran is ready for talks but will fight if "cornered" by humiliating demands.

In a direct appeal to the White House, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has warned that a military strike on Iran would be a "wrong" move that could destabilize the entire region beyond repair. Speaking to international media on Wednesday, Fidan offered specific strategic advice to his "American friends": resolve Iran's nuclear program through isolated, step-by-step diplomacy rather than demanding total concessions in a single package.

"It’s wrong to start the war again," Fidan stated, pointing to Iran’s reported readiness to return to the negotiating table over its nuclear file. He argued that the current U.S. strategy of bundling nuclear disarmament with demands regarding Iran's regional proxies is a recipe for failure. "If you put them as a package... it will be very difficult for our Iranian friends to digest. It sometimes might seem humiliating for them."

Fidan’s role as a regional mediator has become increasingly central as Israel and the U.S. weigh their next moves against the "Axis of Resistance." While acknowledging that Iran's nuclear capacity took a "serious blow" during military operations last year, Fidan maintains that diplomacy remains the only way to "close the files" permanently. His warning is clear: cornering the Iranian leadership into a position of "national humiliation" will only trigger a "worst-case scenario" for Middle Eastern stability.
