Iranian Official Claims: 'US Showing Flexibility in Talks, Including on Nuclear Issue'
Senior Tehran figure says Washington open to compromises on Iran's nuclear program amid ongoing negotiations

A senior Iranian official told Reuters that the United States has demonstrated flexibility in recent diplomatic talks with Tehran, including on key restrictions related to Iran's nuclear program.
The claim comes as indirect and mediated negotiations between Washington and Tehran continue, following months of heightened tensions, a limited military confrontation, and repeated attempts to reach a new framework agreement on Iran's nuclear ambitions, sanctions relief, and regional issues.
According to the Iranian official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the US side has shown willingness to discuss compromises that were previously considered red lines. This includes potential arrangements on uranium enrichment limits and other elements of Iran's controversial nuclear activities.
Iran has long insisted on maintaining its "right" to uranium enrichment for what it claims are peaceful purposes, while the United States and Israel have repeatedly warned that Tehran's program is a cover for military nuclear development and a direct threat to regional stability.
Israeli officials have consistently expressed deep skepticism regarding any deal that leaves Iranian enrichment capabilities intact, arguing that past agreements, such as the 2015 JCPOA, only delayed, rather than prevented, Iran's path to a nuclear weapon.
The latest Iranian statement appears to be an attempt to portray progress and put pressure on the US administration ahead of further rounds of talks. However, US officials have not publicly confirmed any softening of their position, which has historically demanded the complete dismantlement of Iran's nuclear weapons infrastructure and full IAEA oversight.
