The investigation into the Flydubai co-pilot who attempted to crash a plane carrying Israeli passengers has widened to New Zealand, where police confirmed they are examining the period Hamam al-Hammami spent in the country. An Assistant Police Commissioner stated that authorities are aware al-Hammami previously spent time in New Zealand and are currently investigating that period, according to Open Source Intel.
Al-Hammami attacked the captain aboard Flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv in an attempt to seize control of the Boeing 737 MAX and crash it. Israeli passengers intervened and subdued him after the aircraft plunged more than 14,000 feet in under half a minute. The plane made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
