The last officer in the George Floyd case was sent to prison

After the police officer, Derek Chauvin, who knelt on George Floyd's neck until he died, was sent to prison for 20 years, and two other officers who were present at the event were also sentenced to prison for several years, the fourth and final officer who took part in the incident was also sent to prison.

American police officer Tou Thao received his sentence today, after a trial that spanned several years. The American court determined that Thao is guilty of aiding and abetting manslaughter. The judge ruled that Thao showed no remorse for his actions throughout the trial, and despite being a relatively inexperienced officer, the judge imposed a strict sentence.

In the verdict, the judge decreed that Thao will be incarcerated for 57 months in a federal prison, contrary to the position of the plaintiff and the prosecution, who sought a sentence of only 50 months of imprisonment for Thao.

The judge explained the verdict to Thao and said to him: "I expected more remorse from you, more recognition of responsibility, and at the very least, some drops of regret."

Judge Cahill added and said, "I hope that this final verdict against the culpable officers will provide some solace to the families and deliver a message of accountability to officers on the streets."
