Following the wave of crime and murders in the Arab sector, Interior Minister Moshe Arbel calls on Prime Minister Netanyahu to convene an emergency hearing and to include the Shabak in the investigation.

"For years, Arab society and the entire State of Israel have been grappling with the severe crime within Arab society, which sadly manifests itself in too many cases of shootings and murders," the Minister of the Interior writes to Netanyahu. Additionally, Arbel refers to the murder of the CEO of Tira Municipality yesterday: "Targeting elected officials and public servants is another distinct and glaring red line that requires a decisive response from the government."

"The government of Israel cannot treat lightly the assassination attempts of election candidates, senior municipal officials, or public representatives. This is an attack on the symbols of authority... I have no doubt that the General Security Service is doing everything in its power both to apprehend the murderers (of the late Bat-Sheva Nagari) and their accomplices, as well as to prevent further acts of terror."

"Furthermore, its considerable capabilities are also needed to prevent and investigate the incidents of assassination attempts against local public representatives and senior local officials, particularly given the current election period we are in."

"I request that you urgently convene a meeting under your leadership, with the participation of Shabak officials, for the purpose of their immediate involvement in the investigation of today's assassination attempt and all the severe violent incidents related to the local elections that aim to disrupt their proper conduct."

According to data from the Avraham Initiatives, the CEO of Tira Municipality is the 151st victim murdered in acts of violence within the Arab sector since the beginning of the year. For comparison, during the same period last year, there were 68 victims.
