Beit Hillel rabbis support Rabbi Levinstein: 'Shocked by the attack'

The rabbis of Beit Hillel, who are known to be in great disagreement with Rabbi Levinstein's approach, issued a statement of support for him following the attempted attack he experienced and clarified: "It is no secret that our disagreement is a serious and deep disagreement. However, we are shocked by the attack that took place."

The rabbinic organization Beit Hillel, which is on the side considered more moderate in religious Zionism, issued a statement of support for Rabbi Yigal Levinstein this evening (Wednesday), following the attempted attack he experienced last night in Tel Aviv by left-wing demonstrators.

Despite the controversies: "Rabbi Yigal is an important rabbinical figure"

The organization stressed that they are far from Rabbi Levinstein's opinions, but said: "It is no secret that we disagree with the head of the Bnei David - Mechina in Eli, Rabbi Yigal Levinstein, on many things. It is also no secret that our disagreements are serious and deep disagreements. However, we are shocked by the attack Rabbi Levinstein went through.".

"It is a disaster that this should be pointed out at all: you do not attack a person, either verbally or physically, because of his opinions or for any other reason. In addition to the basic respect that must be shown to every person regardless of who he is, Rabbi Yigal is an important and leading rabbinic figure in the nation. Despite The many agreements between us, we respect him and manage the disagreement and debate between us in the ways of the Torah, the ways of Noam."

"We call on the politicians who justified the attack to retract them"

In conclusion, the rabbis called on the politicians who justified the attack to retract them and claimed: "The rabbis and rabbis of Beit Hillel strongly condemn the attack, and call also on those among the politicians who chose to justify it because of the rabbi's positions, to retract them and take care to maintain basic respect between man and his fellow man, especially in these days".
