A memorial service for Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA, held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, drew tens of thousands of attendees, but also ignited controversy due to comments made by Tucker Carlson during his eulogy.

The event, which honored Kirk following his assassination on September 10, 2025, in Utah, featured speeches from prominent figures including President Donald Trump and Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk. However, it was Carlson's remarks that have since sparked a heated debate online and among attendees.

During his speech, Carlson recounted a new-testament narrative involving Jesus, drawing a parallel to Kirk's life and message.

He described a scene "2000 years ago in Jerusalem," where Jesus faced opposition from those in power for speaking the truth, leading to a discussion about the consequences of such opposition. Carlson's specific wording, "I can picture the scene… a bunch of guys eating hummus, thinking, ‘What do we do about this guy telling the truth about us?’" has been interpreted by some as a veiled reference to Jewish individuals, given the historical context of Jesus' crucifixion and the involvement of Jewish leaders at the time.

The remark, coupled with Carlson's laughter during the delivery, has led to accusations of anti-Semitism.

One user, @ThomasThePaine, highlighted the comment, stating, "Qatralson blames the Jews for killing Jesus during Charlie Kirk's memorial, equating it to Charlie's murder," suggesting a direct link between historical events and contemporary politics.

Defenders of Carlson argue that the context of his speech was misunderstood. They contend that his intention was to illustrate the broader theme of truth-tellers facing opposition, rather than targeting any specific group. However, the timing and phrasing of his remarks have reignited discussions about Carlson's past statements.
