From avoiding decisions to alienating Trump

The Most Pro-Israel President Wanted to Help. Netanyahu Made Sure It Would Not Happen

Even before Trump’s Gaza plan was published, I knew one thing for certain. As long as Benjamin Netanyahu is in power, the plan will not move forward.

I published at least five articles on JFeed in which I thoroughly analyzed, both biographically and historically, the unbridgeable gap between Trump and Netanyahu. These were translated into Hebrew and widely circulated on social media. But despite the warnings, none of the decision makers or the "journalists" paid attention.

The deep irony, which is now starting to unsettle even Netanyahu’s most loyal supporters, is that the latest and most destructive sabotage did not take place under Barack Obama or Jimmy Carter. It happened with a president who outflanked Ben Gvir from the right and forced Netanyahu to do what he hates most of all - act.

In truth, Trump was simply too pro Israel, that threatened the sacred paralysis strategy Netanyahu relies on to preserve his illusion of right wing rule. Insiders know - Bibi needs someone to his left to blame for his mental issues with decision making.

Like all Israelis, I hoped and prayed for Trump’s Gaza plan to succeed. I wanted it with all my heart and soul. I saw it as a historic opportunity to reshape the regional reality and break the deadlock. But once I knew Netanyahu was prime minister, I was ready to bet everything that it would not happen. Bibi's psychology and limitations that are known to insiders, and to me as well - that i learned based on conversations with his most senior advisers, his immediate family members, and former army colleagues - made it sure, this will not work.

Readers know I am a man of the right. I support a hawkish national security outlook, a liberal economic view, and a culturally conservative approach.

But from my perspective, all the shouting from the Kaplan protesters in Tel Aviv about the so-called "death of democracy", with all due respect, matters less than the strategic damage Netanyahu has caused to the relationship between Israel and the United States and to the foundation of Israel’s diplomatic and security existence.

Netanyahu’s criminal abandonment of the Gaza plan, which led to a break with Trump, shows that he is not only to the left of half the opposition he constantly brands as the left. But it also shows that he is acting against Israel’s long term security interests by blocking a historic opportunity.

In the articles I published on JFeed I explained how Trump is a man of decisions, execution, and action. Netanyahu is only talk, branding, image, and endless evasion. Where Trump pushes forward, Netanyahu specializes in obstruction.

I warned again and again. Trump would want to move forward for the sake of his people. Netanyahu would invent a complication for the sake of his political power.

And that is exactly what happened.

But why? Because for Bibi, there is no ideology, no guiding set of values - only political survival. In his paranoid mindset, any bold or decisive vision is a threat to stability, and to his hold on power, even if it comes with the full backing of the President of the United States.

If it involves something like the removal of Arabs from Gaza or any decisive resolution, he will refuse regardless of the fruits. Not because of ideology, but because it is too dynamic. And such a dynamic step might disrupt a political status quo, and along with it, his grip on "power" (which he anyway gave the israeli courts 30 years ago and is now pretending to want it back).

Trump is signing with Saudi Arabia. He is making progress with Iran. And Israel? Nowhere to be seen. Netanyahu and Dermer are irrelevant. Not in the same league. two Amateurs. Not part of the conversation.

This is not just a question of ability. It is a matter of priorities. Netanyahu is focused on himself. On survival. Not on the country.

Chuck Schumer, a symbol of the American left, was one of the few who saw it. Not because he loves Israel, but because he understands politics.

The Israeli public is starting to understand. Even those who supported Bibi that the masks are falling.

Political consultant, Moshe Klughaft was right when he said Netanyahu would rather have Kamala Harris in the White House. Not because she is better for Israel, but because Netanyahu thrives when everything is falling apart - he needs to be a fake savor. He needs someone to blame and something to complain about. This is the base he built. Not an ideological right, but a right rooted in victimhood.

He needs to be the one to stop the Left's storm - but when there's no leftist storm it is clear he is a real selfish provincial coward and not a statesman.

he bottom line is this. Netanyahu is not only failing to contribute to the relationship between Israel and the United States. He is sabotaging it. Deliberately. Blindly. Repeatedly. Out of a deep fear of a reality in which he would be forced to choose — and not just talk.
