Israeli fighter Ahavat Hashem Gordon scored a first-round knockout victory over Spain’s Andres Vasquez at a UTMA Muay Thai event in Lithuania on Saturday, extending his undefeated record and continuing a recent run of high-profile performances.
Gordon, who has gained prominence in Israel for both his results in the ring and his visible display of Jewish identity, ended the fight quickly with a series of powerful strikes. He entered the bout wearing a kippah and tzitzit, as he has in previous fights.
Following the win, Gordon dedicated the victory to IDF officer Asaf Hamami, who was killed on October 7, gesturing to a flag bearing his name.
“I want to dedicate this victory to my country,” Gordon said. “Be good, be like Hamami.”
He added that he is aiming for a championship title and is prepared to face any opponent.
Gordon’s rise in popularity has accelerated in recent weeks, including after a win over a Turkish opponent and public confrontations tied to his Israeli identity. A planned title bout against a Thai fighter was canceled shortly before the event, officially due to visa issues, though members of Gordon’s team suggested political factors may have played a role.
Earlier in the event, his younger brother Ruach Hashem Gordon defeated Turkish fighter Hussein Dolu by judges’ decision and also dedicated his win to Israeli soldiers.
