Google has extended free access to Gemini Omni, its artificial intelligence video creation and editing tool, until noon Pacific Time on August 11. The extension grants users an additional week to try the product without requiring a Google AI subscription.
The promotional period originally launched on July 30 and was scheduled to conclude on August 4. While the deadline has been pushed back, usage restrictions remain unchanged: each user may generate up to ten videos at no cost, either through the Gemini mobile application or the web-based version.
Gemini Omni, unveiled at the Google I/O 2026 conference, goes beyond simply generating videos from text prompts. The platform enables users to create, edit, and remix video content using text instructions, still images, and existing video clips. Its conversational interface allows for iterative refinements and modifications to initial outputs, eliminating the need to restart the creation process with each attempt.
Users can request changes to camera angles, swap backgrounds, adjust visual styles, or modify scene characteristics using natural language commands. Google has showcased several examples from developers who received early access to the model: one demonstrated cycling through approximately 20 different camera angles within the same scene, while another creator used voice commands to transform an outdoor setting from day to night, add weather effects, and change seasons.
Additional demonstrations included animating sketches into realistic video footage and converting live-action clips into various animation styles. These capabilities position Gemini Omni as a tool aimed not only at professional creators but also at users seeking to produce video content quickly without requiring complex technical expertise.
Google has not issued an official explanation for extending the promotional period. However, according to a report from Android Authority, the initial trial period led to widespread sharing of Gemini Omni creations across social media platforms. The assessment suggests the move aims to increase product awareness and encourage broad public experimentation ahead of a full commercial launch.
As of now, Google has not disclosed permanent pricing models or complete availability details for Gemini Omni. The tool currently operates through the Gemini app, the Google Flow platform, Google AI Studio service, and the Gemini API interface.
