Dr. Esther Shkalim is an Israeli Mizrahi feminist poet, researcher of Jewish communities, and curator of Jewish art, whose work vividly explores the intersections of female, Jewish, and Mizrahi identity in both private and public spheres Born in Tehran in 1954, she immigrated to Israel as a young child and later earned her PhD in Jewish history from Tel Aviv University She was the founding manager of the Center for Jewish Heritage at the Eretz Israel Museum and has authored notable works including Sharkia (“Fierce Eastern Wind”) and A Mosaic of Israel's Traditions, widely included in Israeli literature curricula
