Zehut party chairman Moshe Feiglin issued his first response Monday to the attempted extortion against him by a Bar-Ilan University mathematics lecturer accused of planning a mass terror attack to murder hundreds of Israeli Arabs.

"Immediately upon receiving the extortion letters and threats from the accused, Moshe Feiglin and the party leadership turned without delay to the Israel Police and filed an official complaint on the matter," Feiglin said in a statement.

"We thank law enforcement for their swift and determined action, and trust the security and judicial authorities to bring the full severity of the law against those who committed these offenses. The Zehut party will continue to act with public responsibility and without fear."

Earlier Monday, it was revealed that a mathematics lecturer from Bar-Ilan University planned a mass terror attack against Arab and Bedouin citizens.

The Central District Attorney's Office filed an indictment in the Lod District Court against the academic, charging him with detailed planning of a large-scale terror attack against Arab and Bedouin citizens. According to the indictment, the professor planned to establish 12 terror cells to carry out simultaneous killings across the country and cause the deaths of hundreds of people, with the goal of bringing about the flight and expulsion of the Arab population from Israel and of Palestinians from Judea and Samaria.

According to the indictment, the lecturer planned a simultaneous terror attack: 72 Jewish operatives in 12 cells, armed with pistols, rifles, axes and hammers, who would operate in mixed cities and Arab towns. He planned to target approximately 600–700 murdered Arabs and Bedouins, with the aim of bringing about mass flight and expulsion of the Arab population. He called the plan "Ha'ay'T - The People Will Make Transfer."

He planned to recruit some 71 participants through what was meant to be an election rally for Moshe Feiglin. The invitees would arrive believing they were attending a political conference, only to discover during the event that they were in fact being secretly recruited for a terror attack that would be carried out the very next day.

The indictment alleges that he repeatedly tried to enlist Feiglin, but Feiglin did not respond to his approaches. Subsequently, according to the prosecution, he even attempted to extort Feiglin with threats: he demanded that Feiglin assist in advancing the plan and threatened that if he did not do so, he would publish a letter against him that would allegedly cause him public damage ahead of the elections. Feiglin ultimately received the letter and threw it in the trash.
