Israeli police closed the investigation this week into David Zitoun, partner of singer Nasrin Kadri, over an alleged assault on freed hostage Rom Braslavski. The case was shut for lack of public interest, ten months after the incident.
The confrontation took place when Braslavski arrived at a party Kadri was hosting in central Tel Aviv, saying he had been invited in advance. At the entrance to the nightclub, a heated argument broke out between him and Zitoun. Braslavski called police and told investigators that he and a friend had been physically attacked.
The investigation, conducted by the Yarkon district, included testimony from both sides and complex technical procedures to establish what happened. Police sources told Walla that significant efforts were made to get to the truth, but the passage of time, the sensitivity of the case, and the fact that no ongoing conflict was found between the two led to the decision to close the file.
Shortly after the incident, recordings surfaced of a conversation between Kadri and Braslavski. In the recordings, Kadri was heard apologising: "Wow I heard what happened, I'm so sorry. I was there five minutes and ran away, and they told me there was an incident."
Braslavsky responded, "You were there too. You told them 'bring Rom in so he can enter.' I listened to you, you said you were waiting for me to come, and then I ran into your boyfriend... Your boyfriend took me downstairs and shouted at me: 'Just because you were kidnapped doesn't mean you can talk however you want.' He threw a punch at my face. Your boyfriend threw a punch in the face of a kidnapped person who came back from captivity!"
Israel Police said in response: "After carrying out extensive and thorough investigative procedures and examining the investigation findings by the investigative authorities, [we] decided to close the file."
