In a profoundly moving conclusion to its season, Israel's premier satirical show, "Eretz Nehederet," set aside its usual comedy for a moment of national catharsis, welcoming recently released hostage and aspiring musician Alon Ohel to its stage.

Ohel, a gifted pianist who endured a harrowing two years in Hamas captivity after being abducted from the Nova music festival, sat down at the piano to accompany the cast in a heartfelt rendition of David Broza's classic "Under the Sky" (Tahat HaShamayim). The song’s poignant lyrics, which include the lines, "We have time/Under the sky/In the meantime/We're still here", served as a powerful reflection of Ohel's ordeal and ultimate return.

The emotional resonance was deepened by the significance of the moment, which host Eyal Kitzis described as "closing the circle." He referenced an earlier episode, broadcast eight months ago while Ohel was still being held, where singer Hanan Ben Ari had performed a tribute song for the captive pianist, who had been scheduled to begin his musical studies at the Rimon School of Music.

Alon Ohel, who wore a patch over his right eye due to untreated injuries sustained during the October 7, 2023, attack, grinned throughout the performance, especially as his parents and sister joined him and the cast on stage. Members of the "Eretz Nehederet" ensemble were seen embracing the Ohel family, underscoring a palpable sense of community and relief. A sign on the piano, adorned with the yellow color symbolizing the hostage plight, read: “Alon, You're Not Alone.”

The final scene transformed a stage known for political mockery into a place of genuine human connection and healing, marking Ohel's return to his passion for music, a love he kept alive even while underground, playing notes "in his head" as a testament to his unbreakable spirit.
