Transform Dates for Rosh Hashanah

Dates are a traditional Rosh Hashanah staple, but a few strategic cuts, melted chocolate, and pomegranate seeds can turn them into elegant flower-shaped treats that look far more elaborate than they actually are.

Date flowers

Ingredients:

Large, soft Medjool dates (pitted)

Melted chocolate

Instructions:

1. Using a sharp knife, cut each date lengthwise into 8 sections, stopping before you reach the bottom. Leave the base intact so the date remains in one piece.

2. Gently spread the sections outward like petals until the date resembles a flower.

3. Drizzle or place a small amount of melted chocolate in the center of each flower.

4. Arrange several pomegranate seeds in the center, pressing them gently into the chocolate.

5. Refrigerate for a few minutes until the chocolate sets.

The finished date flowers can be served on their own on a platter, or used as decorative elements on cakes, tarts, or festive fruit arrangements.

Enjoy, and Shanah Tovah!
