Crown Heights: Suspect in Violent Antisemitic Stabbing Surrenders to Police
A brutal Hanukkah stabbing that terrorized Brooklyn’s Crown Heights Jewish community takes a dramatic turn as the antisemitic suspect surrenders, following a knife attack fueled by Holocaust slurs and captured on viral security footage.

The Jewish community in Brooklyn's Crown Heights neighborhood is breathing a sigh of relief after the suspect in a brutal stabbing attack turned himself in to authorities. The incident occurred last Tuesday during Hanukkah, when a 35-year-old Chabad Hasidic man was walking along Kingston Avenue around 5 p.m.
According to reports, the attacker approached him, made antisemitic statements, including disturbing references to the Holocaust, pulled out a knife, and stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene.
The violent assault was captured on security cameras and quickly went viral, heightening concerns in the tight-knit community. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
After more than a week on the run, the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Armani Charles, a local resident living on Midwood Street near Kingston Avenue, surrendered at the NYPD's 77th Precinct on Monday. Police are continuing to investigate the attack as a hate crime, with charges pending.
Community leaders have voiced ongoing worries about a recent uptick in antisemitic incidents in the area. Earlier this week, representatives from the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council met with NYPD officials to discuss safety measures and increased patrols.
