Fire Breaks Out at Mesivta Yeshiva in Stamford Hill

A major fire erupted Thursday at the Mesivta Yeshiva CZNV building on Cazenove Road (Kasnov Street) in the heart of London’s Stamford Hill Jewish community. The blaze, which reportedly began in the Pardes catering kitchen inside the multi-use building (which also houses residential apartments), sent thick plumes of smoke visible across the area. Firefighters quickly responded and brought the fire under control.

No injuries were reported.

Dramatic footage circulating on social media shows community members and first responders successfully rescuing multiple Sifrei Torah (Torah scrolls) from the burning building — a powerful and emotional scene for the Orthodox Jewish neighborhood.

Local sources have raised suspicions of possible arson amid a recent wave of incidents targeting Jewish institutions in the UK. The cause remains under active investigation by London Fire Brigade and police.

The community is shaken but grateful that sacred scrolls were saved and no one was harmed.
