Theology Meets Politics in the Heart of Israeli Idolatry

Bibism as Idolatry: The Golden Calf of Modern Israel

"Bibism” is not a political movement but a modern Golden Calf, a cult of self-worship disguised as Zionism

I. The Worship of a Man Disguised as Zionism

Fellow Conservatives let’s stop pretending: Bibism is not politics, it’s idolatry.

Bibism is a symptom of the same sickness that has shadowed the Jewish people since Joseph was sold by his brothers, a fracture in the moral and psychological fabric of our nation. It is exile reborn inside sovereignty.

It is the spiritual twin of the Golden Calf.

You can wrap it in a flag, quote prophets, or hang a Star of David above it, but placing holy symbols - does not sanctify the act.

Just like putting a Jewish Star on a shrine of flesh, won’t make it a synagogue.

II. Two Idolatries: The Left and the Right

The Israeli Left has its own idol: to be like the nations. Their god is “Democracy,” their priests sit in media studios and courtrooms, their rituals are conducted in the language of rights and progress. It is idolatry of imitation, the worship of the foreign ideal.

But the Right, my own camp, has fallen into a deeper sin. Our idolatry is the need to see holiness embodied in power, to touch the divine through a man. Our motive may be purer, but our act is filthier. We have replaced faith with fandom. We have confused covenant with charisma.

And when a people begins to worship the one who permits their idolatry, that is the gravest sin of all.

III. The Exilic Mind: The Unhealed Jewish Psyche

Our sickness is ancient. We carry within us two intertwined neuroses:

The old Mapai regime, from 1933 to 1977, tried to regulate these disorders by burying the Talmudic soul under bureaucracy. It worked for a time. But when Gush Emunim rose to resurrect faith, the buried sicknesses erupted.

What was meant to heal the nation became the scapegoat for its deeper pathologies. And in the end, even Gush Emunim was devoured by the same disease: power without reflection, faith without introspection.

IV. Aaron, Moses, and the Return of the Calf

The Torah tells us everything. When Israel sinned with the Calf, God offered Moses a terrible temptation: “I will make of you a great nation.” Moses refused. He prayed for the people, not for himself. That is leadership.

Aaron, in contrast, yielded to the mob. He shaped their desire into gold and called it holiness. And when he did so, he began to turn himself into the idol.

Today, Netanyahu plays that same role: the priest who becomes the idol. He has merged the idea of sovereignty with self-worship. The people are told that by serving him they serve the State, and by serving the State they serve God.

This is not Judaism. It is a Zionist Christianity, salvation through a man.

V. The Fall of the Religious Zionist Dream

When the descendants of Gush Emunim allied themselves with the “Second Israel,” with its populist reflexes and lack of reflection, they surrendered the very essence of their mission. They became administrators of faith, not bearers of vision. Holy by genealogy, empty by spirit.

Now, in the alliance between pseudo-religious messianism and populist materialism, the sickness has reached its peak. The worship of the leader, the surrender of sovereignty to foreign powers, the cult of victimhood, this is not redemption. It is regression.

VI. The Necessary Purification

Let me be clear: Zionism, including the religious kind, must undergo a purgation, a cleansing bath in boiling excrement. Yes, that is the language of the sages. It means: purification through confrontation with our filth.

Before the Kingdom of David can rise, there must come a Kingdom of Moses, a return to truth, humility, and covenant. Until then, what we have is not Judaism but a perverse echo of it, a Christianity wearing tefillin, a nationalism drunk on its own reflection.

We are drinking the dust of our own calf, and we call it holy water.

VII. The Final Warning

This is not an attack on individuals. It is a diagnosis of a nation. The Left bows to Reason. The Right bows to a Man. Both are bowing, and that is the tragedy.

We are a people who cannot yet be free without destroying freedom, and cannot be sovereign without desecrating sovereignty. Until we learn to be Jews without idols, whether of gold, ideology, or personality, our redemption will remain theoretical.

The cure begins where the worship ends.
