There's also mention of a possible bomb threat at the nearby Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit building, though this has not been independently verified.

Law enforcement agencies, including West Bloomfield Police, Oakland County Sheriff's Office, and Michigan State Police, flooded the area to secure the building and surrounding vicinity.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid the scene and for anyone who is close to the scene to shelter in place while officers clear the premises.

As of approximately 1:01 PM EDT (noon local time), no injuries have been reported, and the situation is described as active but contained.

CBN Media added:

The vehicle has reportedly caught fire in what’s allegedly the early childhood center at the shul [causing smoke to billow from the roof].
Michigan State Police provided an update, saying:
“The Michigan State Police is aware of an active shooting incident that is ongoing in West Bloomfield.
We are asking for community members to stay away from the area to allow for police response.
Troopers are also increasing patrols at other places of worship in the district.”

Temple Israel, the largest Reform congregation in the United States, has been a focal point for community events and recently hosted FBI active shooter preparedness training.

This incident comes amid heightened concerns over antisemitic threats, following a separate officer-involved shooting near synagogues in Baltimore on March 10.

Community leaders and advocacy groups, including StandWithUs, have called for prayers and vigilance.

This is a developing story.
