Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Saturday that the United States had passed it intelligence about a planned terror attack in Moscow. The FSB told the state news agency TASS that it received the information through established channels of cooperation and that appropriate action is underway. It gave no details about the suspects.
Earlier on Saturday, the US embassy in Moscow issued an urgent alert about a credible threat of a mass-casualty event at the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve in southern Moscow on the same day. The embassy urged people to avoid the area and said the US government is coordinating with Russian authorities on a response.
The warning recalls March 2024, when the US cautioned Moscow about extremist plans to target large gatherings. About two weeks later, gunmen attacked the Crocus City Hall concert venue outside the city, killing 145 people. US intelligence attributed the attack to ISIS-K, the Islamic State affiliate in Afghanistan.
