The toll three years after October 7

Defense Ministry and National Insurance publish figures on the fallen and murdered since Simchas Torah 5784: over 7,150 bereaved family members in the security sector, alongside hundreds of civilian widows, widowers and orphans

The Defense Ministry's Families, Commemoration and Heritage Division and the National Insurance Institute released figures Sunday morning on the scale of loss and bereavement since the outbreak of the Iron Swords War on Simchas Torah morning three years ago.

According to Defense Ministry data, from the start of the war until today, 1,318 members of Israel's security forces have fallen in the various sectors, the Gaza Strip, the south, the north, Lebanon, and Judea and Samaria.

1,153 IDF soldiers (including 43 members of emergency standby squads)

116 Israel Police officers

24 disabled veterans who died as a result of wounds sustained in the war

As a result of the heavy losses, over 7,150 family members have been added to the circle of security-sector bereavement since the war began. Among them: 880 orphans, and over 3,700 bereaved siblings.

Civilian bereavement: over a thousand murdered

At the same time, the National Insurance Institute published updated figures on terror victims and civilians murdered in the October 7 attack and subsequent hostilities since the war broke out:

1,029 civilians were murdered in terror attacks (668 men and 361 women)

88 of those murdered were foreign nationals

The National Insurance Institute reports a severe expansion of the civilian bereavement circle. Since Simchas Torah, 1,216 orphans have been added (618 boys and 598 girls), of whom 345 are children under the age of 18.

In addition, 300 people have been widowed as a result of the terror attacks, 231 widows and 69 widowers.
