10 countries join Macron's nuclear deterrence initiative in Europe
Ten countries have joined French President Macron's "forward deterrence" initiative, including the UK, Germany, Poland, and several Nordic states, according to The Wall Street Journal. Italy declined participation, and the Baltic states are not included. The plan involves France stationing nuclear-capable fighter jets across Europe and enhancing intelligence sharing and early-warning systems to deter Russia. The initiative expands France's nuclear deterrence role on the continent amid declining confidence in U.S. security guarantees.
