A 17-year-old Palestinian from Hebron was arrested Sunday after crashing a stolen car into a bus on Route 1 and leading police on a dangerous chase that ended at the Sacharov interchange. The minor, an illegal resident in Israel, was found carrying pepper spray when he was finally stopped by officers.

According to the Israel Police spokesperson, officers from the Judea district received a report from the Harel station about a suspected stolen vehicle heading toward Route 1. Units set up roadblocks along the highway to intercept the fleeing driver.

During the pursuit, officers saw the driver crash into a bus at the Sacharov interchange. Despite the collision, he continued trying to escape until police from the Harel station, together with Jerusalem border police fighters, managed to apprehend him.

An initial check at the scene revealed that the driver was a 17-year-old illegal resident from Hebron, and the vehicle he was driving had been reported stolen. A search of the suspect turned up pepper spray in his possession.

The minor was arrested and brought to the Beit Shemesh station. The arrest is part of a broader enforcement campaign by Israel Police in recent days targeting illegal residents and vehicle theft.
