"Betrayal? Of course not, nothing to see here," Channel 14 host Shimon Riklin wrote Monday evening in a post on X that hinted at betrayal on October 7. Throughout the post, Riklin employed ironic negatives, with the events and statements he attached to them making clear he was actually casting doubt on the claim that there was no betrayal.
He opened with: "Important to emphasize this evening. It's unthinkable that there was betrayal on 10/7. I don't understand how anyone could think such a thing." He then listed a series of events and protests, repeatedly using the phrase "also not." The insinuation remained general, without specifying any particular act of betrayal on October 7.
Riklin connected his remarks to a film about the IDF and the support it allegedly receives from parts of the left. In doing so, he sharply attacked the IDF spokesman: "After the film about the IDF. And the backing it gets from parts of the left. And the cowardice of IDF spokesman the rabbit who doesn't dare defend IDF soldiers with a full mouth."
He then moved to the Sde Teiman affair and refusal movements, continuing the same ironic formulation: "The Sde Teiman affair also teaches that there was no betrayal. Unequivocally not. Also not the refusal. Also not 'you won't have an army.'"
Next he mentioned what he described as attempts to damage the economy and move money out of Israel, alongside highway protests: "Also not the attempt to dismantle the economy and take the money out of Israel. Also not burning Ayalon and blocking the country."
He closed the post with another statement directed at the left, continuing the insinuation: "Betrayal? Of course not, nothing to see here. We'll wait for the next plot from the left's production house. Maybe then we'll understand."
