Former IDF Brigadier General Dedi Simchi has addressed the conspiracy and betrayal theories circulating around the October 7 failure, stating unequivocally that such claims are baseless and stem primarily from the difficulty in comprehending the magnitude of what occurred.
In an interview with Radio 103FM, Simchi responded to the betrayal theories directly: "An event happened here that an ordinary Israeli person, who grew up in the State of Israel with such a strong army, cannot understand how such a thing happened. People in their distress are looking for solutions. It's like thousands of years ago when man didn't understand what this big ball of sun was that appears every morning and disappears at night, so he invented a story about some god or another and solved the mystery." Simchi emphasized without ambiguity: "I am saying this clearly, there was no betrayal, no one betrayed, that is my opinion and I stand firm in it."
At the same time, Simchi acknowledged that he can understand the psychological source of these claims among the public: "I do understand people who cannot manage to comprehend this insane event, and they are looking for all kinds of solutions, so they go to one conspiracy or another. It didn't happen, it's not proper, it's not okay, I do understand how they got there."
