Katz orders Judea-Samaria closure through Sukkos

Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered a full closure of Judea and Samaria starting today (Sunday), following a recommendation from the IDF. The directive took effect immediately and will remain in place throughout Sukkot and Chol HaMoed.

Under the order, Palestinian workers will not be permitted to enter settlements in Judea and Samaria during the entire chag period. Entry of essential workers to industrial zones in Judea and Samaria will be allowed only in accordance with security guidelines set by Central Command.

No exceptional permits will be issued, except those required by the state's commitments to the High Court (Bagatz). The decision comes as the security establishment raises alert levels across all sectors ahead of the Yom Tov period.

Ahead of Sukkos, the IDF has reinforced forces across sectors and strengthened defensive positions. Regular battalions will remain on alert in every command through the end of the chag period and will be available for rapid deployment alongside brigade headquarters on standby.

During Sukkot, several combat companies will be assigned to reinforce each sector, with additional companies held in reserve. These forces will remain in position throughout Chol HaMoed and Shemini Atzeret. Central Command will receive additional reinforcements during the chag, including forces from the Maglan unit.

The heightened security posture comes three years after the October 7 massacre, as the security establishment continues operations against terror organizations across all fronts.
