High Court judges dispute quote attribution in Haaretz government advertising case

During a High Court hearing on the government's cessation of advertising in Haaretz, Judge Kabub quoted publisher Amos Schocken as calling the October 7 events "criminal acts," with Justice Barak-Erez stating the quote appeared in Appendix 17 of Haaretz's petition. However, the quoted statement does not exist in that appendix or in online searches. The judiciary later clarified that Kabub referred to statements across Appendices 17-19, where Appendix 18 mentions "a shocking event" and Appendix 19 states Schocken said Hamas are not freedom fighters and that October 7 perpetrators should be severely punished.
