Reporter: Netanyahu Appointment "Cruel"

Yaron Avraham reacted sharply after Prime Minister Netanyahu appointed Hadar Muchtar to lead Likud's youth campaign, months after he personally prevented her from running in party primaries

Channel 12 political correspondent Yaron Avraham sharply criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday following the announcement that Hadar Muchtar would be appointed to head the youth division of Likud's election campaign.

"What cruelty," Avraham wrote in response to the decision. The appointment comes after Netanyahu himself blocked Muchtar from competing in the Likud party primaries earlier this year.

Muchtar, who maintains an active social media presence, had turned to her followers in disappointment at the time, asking them to pressure the prime minister to grant her an exemption from the party's standard membership period requirement. She needed special approval because she had joined Likud relatively recently and did not meet the threshold for running in the internal party elections.

But her difficulties did not end there. In recent weeks, reports emerged that she was in talks with National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir about joining his Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power) party. However, Ben Gvir himself announced that she would not enter the next Knesset on his list. He suggested that she should study parliamentary work and return better prepared in the future.

In an official statement, the Likud party announced: "Prime Minister and Likud Chairman Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to appoint Hadar Muchtar as head of the youth division for the Likud campaign."

The statement described Muchtar as a 24-year-old with a master's degree in computer science, a veteran of the IDF's elite 8200 intelligence unit, and an influential voice in public opinion who will contribute significantly to the campaign. The announcement concluded with wishes for her success in the role.
