Tel Talpiot outpost has been dismantled multiple times over two years but repeatedly rebuilt; latest action targets tents placed meters from Palestinian homes

Israeli military forces on Wednesday initiated another evacuation of tents erected by settlers near the Palestinian village of Kusra in Samaria (northern West Bank), following the expansion of the Tel Talpiot outpost beyond its original footprint.

Security forces have dismantled the unauthorized outpost several times over the past two years, but settlers have returned after each removal to rebuild. In recent days, troops carried out multiple evacuations in the area, with current operations focused on additional tents positioned close to village residences.

According to reports, settlers expanded their presence by erecting several tents just meters from Palestinian homes. The military is now preparing to remove these structures as well.

Palestinian residents of Kusra claimed that the tent placement near their houses effectively created a siege around three families. The complaint centers on the proximity between the newly established tents and residential buildings in the area.

The recent developments once again place Tel Talpiot at the center of security forces' enforcement activities. Despite repeated evacuations conducted over the past two years, settlers have consistently returned to the site, and troops are now preparing for another operation.

Meanwhile, footage circulated on social media in recent days showing several soldiers arriving at the outpost and praying together with settlers inside one of the tents.

The IDF stated following the video's publication that the incident is under investigation. No additional details have been released regarding the circumstances of the soldiers' arrival at the location, the investigation's findings, or any disciplinary measures taken.

According to reports, preparations for evacuating the tents are already underway. If carried out, this will mark another in a series of actions taken against the outpost, following settlers' return and reconstruction after each previous evacuation.

An IDF spokesperson stated:

"The Central Command chief, the Judea and Samaria Division commander, and the Border Police West Bank commander toured Kusra village and nearby outposts this morning, and spoke with the Palestinian family living at the site, who clarified that the house has electricity and water infrastructure.

Adjacent to the house, in Area B where a closed military zone order was imposed, a shelter was erected where Israeli civilians stayed. Border Police forces evacuated the shelter and are working to remove the civilians who were there. The incident is ongoing at this moment, and security forces are on site.

During the tour, the commanders addressed with severity actions carried out by Israeli civilians toward the Palestinian family, and ordered several steps going forward.

Additionally, disciplinary action was decided upon regarding the force involved that was documented at the location several days ago.

Security forces will continue to act with determination and responsibility to improve the situation in the area, maintain law and order, and prevent the recurrence of such incidents."
