The Israel Defense Forces announced Wednesday evening that it had carried out a targeted airstrike in the Shati area of Gaza, killing four senior commanders from Hamas's elite Nukhba force, all members of the Beit Lahiya Battalion.

According to the IDF, the strike eliminated Muhammad Hamdi Ahmad al-Masri, a Nukhba company commander who was actively advancing terror plots against Israeli forces. Three platoon commanders were killed alongside him.

The three platoon leaders were identified as Samed Samir Harab Abu Jabal, who infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7 massacre; Muhammad Attar, involved in planning and executing terror operations against IDF troops; and Muhammad Fathi Hassin Nasser, who also participated in carrying out attacks and terror schemes against Israeli soldiers.

Military officials emphasized that the four commanders posed a direct and immediate threat to forces operating in the field, prompting the decision to eliminate them from the air. The IDF added that Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue operating with all available means to remove any immediate threats to soldiers.

The airstrike is part of a series of IDF operations in Gaza in recent days. Defense Minister Israel Katz stated: "Israel's policy in Gaza is clear, we remove threats, eliminate terrorists, and exact a price from anyone who took part in the October 7 massacre." According to the IDF, terrorists eliminated in previous strikes were actively involved in planning terror operations.

The strikes come amid ongoing tensions along the Yellow Line corridor in Gaza, a buffer zone established under the ceasefire. IDF soldiers operating in the area have been instructed to prepare for possible retaliatory fire from Hamas after militants began approaching the sensitive boundary.

Reports indicate that Hamas is attempting to exploit the pause in fighting to strengthen its hold on the ground and challenge Israel's military presence in the area. Militants have been moving closer to the Yellow Line in an apparent effort to reshape the narrative and present themselves as responding to Israeli actions.

The IDF clarified that any threat identified within the Yellow Line must be addressed immediately, but soldiers are bound by strict parameters to prevent harm to uninvolved civilians. The guidelines require forces to balance the need to respond to threats with the imperative to protect civilian lives.
