Fly Dubai attack

Dubai hijacker "acted alone"; pilots ID'd

Israeli probe assesses Omani co-pilot operated as lone wolf terrorist; backup pilots who saved the plane were South African and New Zealand citizens, not British as first reported

Investigation: Dubai Hijacker Likely Acted Alone; Rescue Pilots were South African, Kiwi

An initial Israeli investigation assesses with high probability that the failed hijacking aboard the Fly Dubai flight was carried out as a "lone wolf" operation, a terrorist acting independently. CBS News reports the finding, citing sources involved in the case.

According to those sources, the investigation remains active, with interrogators continuing to pursue all possible leads in parallel to reach a full understanding of the incident's circumstances.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that the two backup pilots who took control of the aircraft at the critical moment and brought it safely to the ground were not British citizens as earlier reports claimed, but rather one was a South African national and the other a New Zealand citizen. Their identities have not yet been released.
